Kigali, the lively capital of Rwanda, turned into a celebration of African football on Monday, September 22. The Confederation of African Football (CAF), alongside TotalEnergies, proudly presented the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Trophy to excited fans, just in time for the much-anticipated finals later this year!
As the trophy travels across our beloved continent, it builds the excitement for the big showdown in Morocco, happening from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. The event followed CAF’s thrilling celebrations marking 100 days until kickoff, which sparked joy and anticipation among fans everywhere!
This special event also kicked off the 2025 UCI Road World Championships, beautifully connecting two major sporting events. The TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Trophy Tour is all about celebrating the rich history and heritage of African sports, and it really captured the spirit of unity among fans.
TotalEnergies, a proud supporter of both CAF and the UCI Road World Championships, let Rwanda Football Legends take charge of hosting this exciting ceremony. Mr. Jimmy Umulisa and Ms. Nibagwire Sifa Gloria led the presentation, and their warm reception from the enthusiastic crowd made the day even more memorable.
The ceremony also paid tribute to some remarkable CAF Ambassadors in attendance, like Tunisia’s 2004 TotalEnergies CAF AFCON champion Karim Haggui and Rwandan football star Haruna Niyonzima. They were joined by the fantastic Ms. Alice Niyoyita, who will be following the Trophy to its next stops on the tour.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! On Tuesday, September 23, the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Trophy will shine once more at the Fan Zone of the UCI Road World Championships in Kigali. Fans will have the chance to get up close and personal with the Trophy alongside Alice Niyoyita—Rwanda’s leading scorer in women’s football—and Haruna Niyonzima, a beloved former international player.
