Match Summary

The TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 will culminate in a highly anticipated final on Saturday at Nairobi’s Moi International Sports Centre, where Morocco aims to secure a historic third title while debutants Madagascar look to complete an extraordinary journey.

Morocco hopes for the third Title

Morocco, with two previous championships under their belt, arrives in Nairobi with great expectations.

Coach Tarik Sektioui expressed confidence ahead of the match, emphasizing the importance of being fully prepared and respectful of their opponents. He noted the challenges faced throughout the tournament, having traveled across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, which he believes has fortified his team's resolve. Midfielder Salaheddine Rahouli added that the team is determined to win, recognizing the pride involved in potentially bringing home a third title for Moroccan supporters.

Madagascar's magic expected

On the other hand, Madagascar's journey to the final is already a historic achievement in itself, but Coach Romuald Rakotondrabe insists they are not content to stop there.

Acknowledging Morocco's strength, he stated that Madagascar earned their place in the final through hard work and determination. Despite struggling with injuries and suspensions, the unity of the team remains their cornerstone. Captain Nantenaina Elysee Tony

Randriamanampisoa echoed this sentiment of resilience as they prepare for a tough match against seasoned opponents.

This final marks Madagascar’s first appearance at such a stage, having edged past Sudan in a nail-biting semi-final. In contrast, Morocco is a seasoned finalist, having experience from previous years.

Both teams boast key players poised to make a difference, with Morocco's top scorer Oussama Lamlaoui and Madagascar's reliable goalkeeper Michel Ramandimbisoa expected to play pivotal roles.

The match holds significance beyond the trophy. For Morocco, a victory would solidify their status as the most successful nation in CHAN history, while for Madagascar, it represents a monumental breakthrough for Southern African football and a source of hope for smaller nations to aspire to greatness in continental competitions.

As both teams prepare to battle it out, the emotional weight of the occasion promises a thrilling encounter in Nairobi.
