Prior to travelling, the team also underwent comprehensive functional screening to reaffirm the team’s preparedness to exude high-performance standards during the continental showdown.
Mr. Geoffrey Omondi, the team’s head coach has expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the tournament saying science-backed training was key to enabling the team to achieve peak performance.
“Our team is ready. Each player has shown dedication, discipline, and has worked tirelessly to reach this level. With the support of modern performance assessments and targeted training we are confident in our ability to bring the trophy home,” Omondi said.
The screening, conducted by Blazers Performance Team, helped to identify players who are marginally below optimal benchmarks, enabling targeted interventions to address specific gaps. The players also received guidance on body functionality, recovery, and optimal performance habits.
Leading the team in the setter positions are Emmaculate Nekesa and Faith Imodiah, while Murambi Noel and Zeddy Cheruto will take on the opposite roles. The outside hitters include Leonida Kasaya, Akinyi Milka, Valentine Chemutai, and Sally Sikutwa, providing the squad with speed and versatility.
Anchoring the middle are Ekaru Gladys, Sinaida Yvonne, Serena Busolo, and Mariana Sokoiyo, bringing strength and stability at the net. Completing the team are the liberos, Celestine Nyongesa and Sifuna Betty, tasked with defensive coverage and ensuring the team’s resilience on the court.
The Six-time champions Kenya Pipeline are determined to end a 20-year wait for the continental title, last won in 2005.
Omondi, at the helm since September 2024, is confident his squad has the tools to break the hex, even against formidable home favorites Al Ahly SC and Zamalek SC.
“The Egyptian teams will have the home advantage, and we know it will be tough, but we will bring the trophy back home,” Omondi said.
Captain Gladys Ekaru echoed the optimism, saying the players are mentally and physically ready after learning from last year’s narrow 3-2 semi-final loss.
“We’ve learnt from the past and this time we know for sure that we’re prepared and set both mentally and physically,” she noted.

Kenya’s top volleyball teams, Kenya Pipeline, KCB, and DCI, are ready to carry the national flag at the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Club Championships in Cairo, Egypt, from April 11-24, 2026.
