Kenyan Premier League leaders Gor Mahia are hoping to extend their lead at the top to nine points when they face Posta Rangers in a rescheduled encounter at Nyayo Stadium on Thursday, 5 March.

Posta Rangers meanwhile are out to put a halt to Gor Mahia’s 12-match unbeaten streak and win their first game in 2026 in a desperate bid to end a ten-match winless streak and move off the relegation zone.

K’Ogalo are riding a seven-match winning streak, their best run in years and look to reclaim the league title they lost to Kenya Police last season.

The last time Gor Mahia lost a game was on 7 December last year, when they went down to AFC Leopards in that famous Mashemeji Derby at Nyayo Stadium. on the flipside, Posta Rangers have failed to win in their last 10 matches.

With Leopards trailing by six points, Gor Mahia will be keen to complete a league double over the mailmen, having already beaten them 3-0 earlier in the season.

Posta Rangers occupy 13th place with 24 points and are coming off a late 1-0 loss against Murang’a Seal. The mailmen have struggled significantly for goals, failing to win a single match since early December.

Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor has insisted that the job is far from done with regards to chasing the title and they should approach every game with the seriousness it deserves.

“Six points gap is good, but it is not over. We still have to keep going. We still have to believe in ourselves, we have to continue to work, continue to believe in ourselves and see what happens at the end of the season,” he said.

On his part , Posta Rangers interim coach Charles Omondi ‘Korea’ says the club need to see out their games

“We have failed to keep a cleansheet in the last eight matches and that is something of  great concern to us. There is work to be done. We will sharpen our defense to ensure we start being solid again,” he noted.

Victory for Gor Mahia will see them move to 52 points, opening a nine-point gap over AFC Leopards. A surprise win for Posta Rangers could propel them as high as 10th place, level with Nairobi United on 27 points.
